My husband and I are thinking of visiting Pittsburgh in April. First, do you recommend any vegan-friendly restaurants? Also, where would you recommend a tourist go/visit? We like science museums and botanical gardens, for example. Do you think the National Aviary is an ethical place to visit? I won't visit many zoos and aquariums, however, I don't have a significant problem with the Monterey Aquarium in California b/c all the animals are rescues and their offspring, and they release the rescues back into the wild whenever possible. (And they don't house whales or do animal shows.) No animal is captured from the wild unless he or she is too injured to survive on his/her own. I don't know where the National Aviary gets their birds, however, I don't like the fact they do dove releases for weddings and other events.
