Hi, Leslie, I'm really sorry to hear about your ailment. I can't imagine how tough that was to hear. I don't have information specifically about macular degeneration, but I do know of an herbal tea that's specifically good for the eyes. I used it to help heal an eye up after it had been injured by a contact lens that had dried out so bad that it pealed off a layer of skin from my eye. It's tea you have to make from scratch, but it's well worth doing. I got the recipe from my massage instructor who was also an expert at Chinese medicine and acupuncture.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons Eyebright
1 tablespoon Lemon Balm
1 tablespoon Hyssop
1 tablespoon Parsley
1 tablespoon Rosemary
water

I make this tea in a coffee maker (that I never make coffee in). If you do it that way, you just put the ingredients into a coffee filter and then water into the coffee maker just as if you were making coffee. I also prefer to use water that has been filtered in a Brita water pitcher. You could also make the tea in a tea pot with the herbs in a metal tea ball.

I'm not claiming this tea will cure your macular degeneration, but I'm 100 percent certain it's good for the eyes. It helped me out big time, and I'd bet it will help the health of your eyes too.

Carrots are also good for the eyes, but it doesn't do any good to OD on them. A whole bag of carrots isn't any better than one or two a day.

I hope this has been helpful.
