I like Paula Begoun's product line. Except for a few things with very obvious animal ingredients(beeswax for example)her stuff is all cruelty free. She also has a strong stance against animal testing. I have really sensitive skin, and her stuff is made without known irritants(some "natural" products are full of irritants, as are the less "natural" drugstore/department store lines)or added fragrance or dyes. Plus, the prices are great. I've also been using the Whole Foods 365 brand unscented body wash and unscented lotion on my face and bod. Cheap, cheap, cheap! I don't know how to feel about the natural versus synthetic thing. Many so called natural products are chock full of ultra-processed-in-no-way-resembling-their-natural-form ingredients. Is that natural? Aubrey comes pretty darn close. But there is no standard for "natural" in the cosmetics/skin care industry. And what is important about something being "natural" may be different for different people. For some it is lack of synthetics, for others it's no petroleum products, or dyes, or artificial fragrances, etc. Not everything natural is better for your skin. I LOVE peppermint lip balm(can't use it though)but the tingle is irritation, not good for your skin. :-( I've had to go with the criteria of 1-what is my skin type and what do I need? 2-How do I get these things cruelty free? 3-Is there a company that is responsible on many levels that I can buy them from? 4-How do I get them less expensively? I love the idea of natural products, but it seems like a pretty complicated execution of what should be(but isn't!) a simple idea...natural means NATURAL(but what does natural mean?!)! Ramble, ramble... There are a few pretty close to natural ideas for skin care that are el cheapo and not too irritating~ My goodness, not a lot of useful info here...but a nice little ranty-ramble!
