I think you've got me sold on the Bones idea! I'm trying a new gym located near the last stop on my express bus commute (a five minute drive from my house). If I can stick to it, I think I can do some bone-building exercises there. I'm taking the required calcium and associated minerals, but I'm struggling with my body's ph. Hence, the "bad vegan" - the foods I love make me acidic. I am trying to cut back on the potato chips, french fries and Trader Joes Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies, but I feel like I'm on withdrawal. Also, I took Fosomax for a while, then graduated to Boniva. But I felt like I was having some strange side-effects, and also I heard some strange stories, so I dropped out of that program. I think proper diet and exercise can be more beneficial. That's why I'm hoping to find a local dietician or nutritionist to talk to. Otherwise I'm doing fairly well. I haven't necessarily given up on marathons, although I think too many of them can do more harm than good - for me at least. Also, I miss all the hiking I used to do. There's still a lot of wilderness in Arizona to explore. Thanks for asking, and I hope all is well with you, Sarah!
