Subject:         My epiphany (so to speak)

My eyes have been opened!
I had been a meat-eater for 60 years. For the last few years I had
seriously thought that I would like to be a vegetarian because my love
of all animals was beginning to cause some guilt over eating their
flesh. Last year I made the commitment to going vegetarian and
immediately felt a great weight lifted.
Then, I began to investigate vegitarianism and discovered the
atrocities of factory farming and the unconscionable abuse of
animals. I was shocked beyond words. Veganism sounded so right to me
and I immediately embraced the philosophy. I am so grateful, though
deeply saddened to have been made aware of what horrible things have
been happening to animals on factory farms. It is so horrible to
watch that I can't help but cry each time I see footage of the
heartless abuse of helpless animals. I am so ashamed now that I have
lived so many years with such ignorance as to not be aware of this
going on.
I am so stoked now to do whatever I can to abolish this horrendous
abuse. I am so happy to be a vegan and am finding being vegan a
wonderful empowerment for me to at least do my part on the grassroots
level. I want to try to influence by example to open as many eyes as
I can.
I'm looking forward to being part of a disscussion community.
Trudy
