Hello there folks....

I am extremely new to veganism...and to tell ya the truth I am
feeling overwhelmed by it all. I'm concerned that I am not doing it
correctly...and there is so much that I need to learn about veganism.
It is definately a lifestyle that I would love to embrace but I feel
so blind and ignorant. LOL I have been a vegetarian for a while
now....no meat, no fish, I do not wear animals either. I did,
however, consume dairy products and eggs but I started to lose my
taste for those things as well and decided to look into veganism for
many reasons....animal rights, health reasons, environmental reasons,
spiritual reasons, etc. I'm not one to judge others for their
lifestyles...be they vegan/vegetarian or non. While I would love to
see the world go veggie...I still have respect for those who do not.
My husband and three sons are meat eaters and again I respect their
right to eat meat and dairy, etc. It's their choice. I'm simply
trying to do my part and do what I can and I know living 100% purely
is pretty impossible....or at least that is what I believe. I can
only do my best, of course.

My problem is...I have three children and it's not always easy for me
to check out every single ingredient at the store and sometimes when I
do check out ingredients...I have no idea what the heck they are so
I'm concerned that I am buying something with animal byproducts.
YUCK! Not only with foods but with household products as well.
Recently, I have cut out cosmetics (never wore make up that
much...occasionally)and stopped dying my hair.... I'm using vinegar to
clean my house now...gradually replacing my "woman things" with vegan
friendly products, etc etc. We compost, have a little garden spot,
freeze tomato juice in the fall for the winter months, etc. I also
read The Vegan Sourcebook and loved it! It was very helpful but I
still have a longgggggg way to go with vegan knowledge.

For the most part, I have met a lot of really wonderful vegans--very
supportive and friendly and helpful... and just a couple of the more
militant type vegans :o{ I'm not into that type of
attitude...accusing others of not being completely vegan for this or
that reason...that's just not my place and I consider nobody to be
completely perfect :o) ...I think if the passion is truly there then
vegans and vegetarians are trying to do whatever they can to lesson
the amount of suffering in the world, and that is a very beautiful
thing! :o)

Some of my questions are (and I apologize if these have been asked
before): is there a list of vegan friendly foods and household
products, etc that could help me when I am at the grocery store. We
have a natural food store but we're on a budget and it's not always an
option for me to shop there so again I'm trying my best.

Do any of you feel that you live completely and 100% purely with your
vegan diet and lifestyle? If so, would love to hear your thoughts on
this.

Do any of you support the raw fruit and veggie diet? Why or why not?

I thank you all in advance and I really love this board...it's very
interesting and helpful. :o)
