Hi all

I adore this board and many of the folks I've met here. I became an
ovo-lacto vegetarian at 15, and a strict vegetarian at 21. At the time
of this posting, I'm celebrating my 14th year as a strict vegetarian.
I became interested in vegan ethics 2 years ago after reading Diet for
a New America and began to eliminate animal products as best I could
from my life.

I was born in 1964 and grew up in California, attending college here
and getting my start professionally in my home state. After working
for 12 successful years in the go-go world of Silicon Valley my husband
and I made the decision to have me stay home full time. So, now-a-
days, I putter around the house gardening and cooking and have much
more time to devote to family. We have 2 kitties and a blind heifer
who lives with our neighbor's small herd of retired dairy cows. We are
living on 5 acres that was treeless when we bought it and we are in the
process of converting it to a park. Over the past 2 years we have
reseeded native grasses and wildflowers, handpulled a lot of
starthistle, planted 88 trees, placed 41 boulders, put in a drainage
system, planted a large year-round garden and put walking paths in,
with much more to go! Talk to me in 10 years and we'll see how close
we are to realizing our idyllic oak woodland.

Personal interests include music (from DiFranco to Debussy), running,
cycling, needlework, gardening, cooking, reading, hiking, botany,
birdwatching and camping. Despite the impression you may get from my
profile, I've been told I'm not conventional in many respects. I don't
know what that means all the time, but I think it's a compliment.

:)

Love to all,

B
