Hi, I just love this board. I visit most days, and it has proven a
great source of encouragement to me and helped me learn new extra
things about veganism and made me realize that I'm not alone in my
beliefs.
My name is Debbie, I'm 24 years old, married to Aaron who is also
vegan. I started vegetarian around 17yrs, on and off, then a year and a
half ago became vegan and Aaron became vegetarian. Around July, Aaron
became fully vegan too.
I live in Nelson, New Zealand, and grow tomatoes for a living. But
because it is low wage work and Aaron is permanently ill, next year I
am going to retrain and do Business Computing and hopefully follow my
brother into programming.
We have two adorable cats. Harold was a wild cat that we have tamed and
he's really friendly now, then we got him a friend, Sally, from the
SPCA, and thankfully they get on really well.
My interests are: I love gardening and crafty things like teddy bear
making, hardanger and cross-stitch. I also love tramping, but I haven't
been for a few years since Aaron has been ill.
We are deeply religious- we're Jehovah's Witnesses and so I spend a lot
of time involved with that also.
Unfortunitly we are the only vegans we know, I don't even know any
vegetarians where we live, but at least we don't get harassed from our
family for it, so it's great being able to come here for support.
