some stats on me: I'm 22, female, just graduated from a very small
liberal arts college in Tennesee in May 1999. I was an anthropology
major. Right now, I'm in my first year of law school, and want to
become involved in environmental law or public interest, hopefully a
combo of the two. (I actually have this huge dream/goal of saving the US
from environmental disaster, which I feel certain is coming soon) I love
volunteering, I've worked at a homeless shelter in Atlanta for four years
and have done Habitat for Humanity a lot too. I sort of speak french
(not fluent) and also speak some spanish, have played the piano since I
was six (classical, although jazz piano would be fantastic to learn, no
time right now). I'm also a nature lover, so my residence in the city is
not making me so happy right now, although, what's three years, in the
great scheme of things? :-) I also worked last summer at a primate
center outside of LA, which fulfilled another dream of mine- learning
about apes.
considering becoming a vegan (my goal is to finish the milk and cheese in
my fridge, then go cold turkey, so to speak). My whole family thinks
I'm crazy and a raging liberal, which is entirely possible (in terms of
my ethical ideas about animals and my diet, anyway). They weren't so
happy when I, at age 15, announced that I was not eating meat anymore,
but have grown tolerant to it since they see I'm really serious. What
triggered my going veg was disecting a fetal pig in biology class in 10th
grade. I loved the scientific part of it, but when I got home that
night, my mom had fixed pork for dinner. She made me eat it, but that
was the very last time I ever ate pork.
adopt a cat so badly I can hardly stand it, but don't want to leave it
alone in my apartment all day while I'm at school. Also have a dog (eng
springer spaniel) who lives with my parents, sweetest dog in the world.
