How to Withdraw From Cymbalta
Cymbalta, the brand name for duloxetine hcl, is a medication used to treat depression, anxiety and other mental disorders. If your doctor chooses to take you off of this medication, it is very important you stick to the guidelines. If the guidelines are not followed, the withdrawal symptoms can be almost unbearable. These are the general rules for withdrawing from Cymbalta.
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Benadryl (optional)
Ask your doctor for a recommendation. Depending on your particular situation, the doctor will decide which option would work best for you. Your doctor may choose to cut the dose in half.
Take the dosage recommended by the doctor. You may have feelings of anxiety as well as a buzzing sensation in your brain as you reduce your dose. Benadryl can help reduce these symptoms.
Report to your doctor after two weeks. Depending on your progress the doctor will choose to leave you at the current dose, reduce it again or take you off of the medicine completely.
Continue taking the recommended dose. If the withdrawal symptoms become unbearable, talk with your doctor. They may choose to put you on a different medicine.
