I need nutritional help and am not sure which board to post on. Several years ago, I changed to an "almost" vegan diet. That means, my slip would be occasional piece of cheese or eat a piece of bread that has an egg as an ingredients. Otherwise, I stick to no animal products.

Over the past 4 years, I have re-taken up running and have my first 1/2 marathon on February 14th. My weekly mileage has been around 35-37 miles a week.

I need help making sure I am receiving proper nutrition. This week, I seem to have hit a wall when I run, and I really feel it is due to my nutritional balance.

From what I have read (very confusing), I need to make sure I have a protein at every meal to ensure muscle repair. I also try to eat enriched cereal to help with vitamins and minerals. My fruit intake is twice per day (usually 1 banana and 1 apple). Of course, I try to eat green veggies as much as possible (broccoli is my veggie of choice, but I mix it up with lettuce/mixed veggies, squash, etc). Is this right?

Somewhere I read that you should be eating more carbs than anything right now. Protein emphasis or carbs? Which is correct? Carbs are harder for me to find, unless you are counting potatoes, because of being vegan.

Any help would be really really appreciated!
