WaPo is now reporting on Davis' ties to Freddie Mac. McCain is in a tight spot with all this financial crap. And this news is going to float over until the debate on Friday and even into next week. Even though McC was absolved of criminal wrongdoing in Keating, he was still embroiled in that S&L mess and was in it up to his neck. And McC knows the Ob campaign can throw Keating up in his face if McC missteps too widely on the brewing financial meltdown.

It's difficult for me to understand how anybody can vote for McCain since the next president is going to be picking at least one S.Ct. justice. Do we really need more right-wing pro-business anti-civil- rights conservatives on the Supreme Court?

That one task alone - appointing a Supreme - should be worth examining why you would vote for one or the other candidate during this election.

Keep in mind that the majority of cases heard by the Supremes are business-related cases. That means there are opportunities for these conservative a-holes to roll back things like the minimum wage, workers rights with respect to discrimination (e.g., Ledbetter v. Goodyear), working hours, conditions and benefits, injury compensation - the works.

And that is not even to mention the shredding of our constitutional rights that has occurred under the Roberts court. Legal scholars have widely noted that the Fourth Amendment is simply not recognizable in its current form given the rulings that have come down in the past 8 years.

We need another judge who will champion the rights of workers, because this Court is stacked with pro-business, anti-civil-rights bootlickers. McCain would obviously pick someone more Scalia-like than not. We don't need more Scalias and Alitos on the bench.
