I want to talk more about the "lack of basic rights" you claim are here in the US, I presume.

What "basic rights" are anyone lacking? Please be specific.

I want to add to my thoughts about this I had in my prior post...not only do I NOT feel victimized in any way (except by liberal Democrats who have no interest in keeping our country safe)...I am very, very appreciative to what this country has given me.

There is a city college here for anyone to go to. There are libraries where anyone can go and improve themselves. There are countless books on goal setting, having an attitude of success, on every imaginable topic one can read to improve themselves.

Yes, some people have it very hard, that is true...but that isnt' do to "oppression". It's mostly due to lack of choices from a financial perspective but there are still opportunities to work.

I do not feel impeded by ANYONE. My life is up to me. The problem with most people is not the outside world...it's within them. Mostly likely they haven't developed discipline, focus, studied the attitude of success, or how to make goals. Instead they've filled their minds that the "other" is keeping them down, wasting all that energy into a false idea that others are keeping them down.

Others are NOT keeping them down. "Others" are so busy building their lives they have no time or interest in keeing anyone else "down".

I have a longtime black friend, total Obama supporter. He was very successful financially. He has extended family that he says "feels they cannot ever afford an apartment". (We live in an expensive city by the way). He was telling me how GOVERNMENT should step up to the plate and teach his family members how to study and hold their hands.

You know what I said? I said "you know who should do it"? YOU!!! YOU are the one who should step up to the plate. YOU are the one who should talk to them about attitudes of success, how to make something of themselves, discipline, etc. Government has enough to do plus it's better if it comes personally, like a mentor...someone they care about.

I also told him that fear of never being able to rent an apartment is common among many people of many colors. It's not just a black thing.

If a person believes that other forces are keeping them down (which they are not), then they will never try. All their energy will go to this imaginary boogie man instead of taking the necessary steps to improve themselves and then their lives.

One more reason I am not a Democrat. I appreciate this country and all it has to offer. I don't believe in this "victimhood" thing...many many women and minorities who have built good lives. It simply is not true. If you develop your charm, lose your attitude and angst towards others, develop a work ethic and treat others with respect...you can go far.
