Okay, had to post one more thing here - For those that are slamming the Nelsons because they are still hosting a site by someone supporting the Republican viewpoint while stating that they are voting the other way... Do you actually only support, love and associate with those who share the exact same views as you do? If you're a Christian Republican, would you stop loving your children/siblings/friends if they told you they were voting Democratic this election? Do you not wish to maintain any ties or emotional connection with everyone who does not agree 100% with you? Would you tell your spouse to hit the road and file for divorce because they don't see everything the same as you do politically/religiously? Seriously, it's so darned hypocritical to come off like politics are worth being divisive over and squashing relationships or support of those who you share some common interests. Why people are coming off like the Nelsons have done some sort of evil here is just flat-out absurd. If you're a Repub and are mad that the Nelsons are stating that they're voting the other way, who really should care? Did you come here for politics, or to meet and communicate with others who promote compassion toward animals? If political viewpoints make such a big deal to you, then you'd better ask EVERYONE at every store or business you support as to how they're voting, and if you're going to be consistent, you'd best be prepared to boycott EVERYONE who doesn't see things 100% your way. But, somehow I bet that you'll only end up shouting about VegSource while neglecting to consider the other places/businesses you support, because that would be too much of an inconvenience to you. I just can't stand this kind of idiotic hypocrisy any longer - put your money where your mouth is and, if you're going to be selective about your support, do it ACROSS THE BOARD, not just when it suits you to vent once while ignoring the same thing everywhere else in your life. For Dems that are mad that the Nelsons are still hosting the site for Matthew Scully, as has been said elsewhere here, does that mean that all his actions and work for the animals is negated because he's a Repub and supports that party? I mean, I don't agree with a lot of Republican agenda (just as well, I don't agree with a good deal of the Democrat agenda either, to be quite honest), but come on, what good does it do to get all torn up about this? Scully isn't putting a giant "Vote McCain" banner across his site, rather, it just showcases his book which is doing good for the animals. Sure, you may not agree with his political views, but what are they harming you? There are millions of Republicans out there who are your friends, family members, co-workers and acquaintances you enjoy seeing, but somehow you're not crucifying them for supporting Palin and McCain. Is Scully's one single vote for the McCain party going to turn the world upside down? Does his political stance somehow make him an abomination, just because he doesn't see things your way? Does this make the Nelsons traitors because they're trying to be fair about this whole thing? You know the true answers to these questions, and it's time you started being honest with yourself about what's really important and spend less time bickering and segregating yourselves off issues that aren't even related to the cause this site promotes. Ugh. Why, oh why, is this turning into such a massive Republican vs. Democrat issue where you're just slandering each other back and forth? Everyone wants a label, a side to be on, and a team to back, but for so many of you, it's at the sacrifice of common sense and rationality. You long so badly to be part of a group and to have a common enemy that you overlook all the good just to find that one bad part you can dwell on. I got out of high school nearly 20 years ago and don't have any urge to go back to that clicquish scene - why on earth do some of you want to create that atmosphere all over again in places it doesn't belong? It's things like this that make me hate politics, and as things are turning, I'm trusting the vegan community less and less for being rational and relevant. I'd thought for that we were above petty bickering over stupid things like politics, religion and such and that we could use our common bond in love for animals to be the base for our strength despite our differences elsewhere. But, now I see that we're just as screwed up as every other group, still longing to try and prove that our personal opinions are gospel and 100% right at the risk of alienating others who should be our allies in a common cause. So very sad...
