Hi Lisa!

I wish I was a little closer to CA, I would love to do the ten day program.

Let me tell you a little about my experience with McDougalling. I started this way of eating on October 17th of last year when I checked my blood sugar two hours after eating and it was 213 - yikes. After one week on McDougall it was 143; after two weeks it was 113 and it's stayed normal since then. I haven't had a lipid profile done, but I would guess they're fine too. My blood pressure runs around 100/60 which is down from 140/high 80s. Oh, I'm 52 and started out very overweight.

In the past seven months I've lost nearly 100 pounds (I just added it up, it's actually 97 pounds exactly). I started out in size 22/24 pants and right now my 10s are getting a little big. I have very rarely strayed from McD, but I do eat a lot. I also walk daily.

Although I'm not Italian, I ate for entertainment, enjoyment, boredom, whatever. I ate way too much fast food and loved ice cream and candy. How did I give it up? I think I so wanted to never have to take medicine for diabetes that I just gave up the junk overnight. I wouldn't say it was easy, but it was time to take care of myself. And I do occasionally think longingly of Ben & Jerry's. But it does get easier over time.

And it can be hard in social situations. When I have a party at my house I make McD food for myself and other stuff for my guests. My close friends are actually making McDougall food for me when they have a party. Going out can be hard too - I try to make the healthiest choice and move on (going out is the only time I haven't eaten 100% McDougall since I've started this way of eating).

So, good luck on your adventure. Please let us know how you're doing. And feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.
