So, there's some dietary information below. You can find a lot of it throughout the internet, but you may find it helpful. But first, just don't let your parents (well father) decide what's healthy. The only reason people even assume that such things are required in diet, is because they've been brought up that way. Sorry if that doesn't work too well for you; I'm probably very stubborn in comparison. I get along well with my Dad though. Warning, rant ahead. Vegans are healthier and less vitamin/nutrient-deficient than others. Just eat healthy and you'd beat any meat-eater in a health check anyday. Common nutrients that omnivores think Vegans are deficient in: Omega-3 Fatty Acids, consume Flaxseed daily. An ounce gives 5g of Omega-3. Chia Seeds are good too. Walnuts, Soybeans and Hempseeds also contain Omega-3, but try to stick to Flax/Chia (Flax is more common). Iron. I'd like to give a specific source, but I personally don't even try, and easily get more than I need. Legumes, green leafy vegetables are good, I guess. Zinc. Green leafy vegetables, Legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, etc... Calcium (omnivores are shown to be more deficient than vegans). Oranges, Figs, Soybeans, Chickpeas, Sesame Seeds. Vitamin D. Just go walk in the sun. 10 minutes a day'll do. Vitamin B12 is safest to get from multivitamins/B12 supplements. It's formed by bacteria, so it's mostly found in dirty foodstuff. A good wad of mud or dirt'll contain B12, but that's not a healthy thing to eat, particularly. Because we're so clean now, it's hard to find naturally in plant-foods (and would vary tremendously due to differing bacteria levels, anywho). Protein. Take it from a bodybuilder that this is just plain rubbish, straight up. Hitting a healthy 10% is easy as pie, even 20% isn't that hard. Grains (commonly Oats, Buckwheat, Brown Rice; psuedo-grains, Amaranth and Quinoa are amazing too). Legumes, Soybeans are good, Chickpeas are really nutritious in general, Lentils too, and they're easy to use. Ignore any mixing protein sources stuff; that was disproved in the 70s. There's also a 0% intake of cholesterols, a terrific saturated fat to healthy fat ratio (common 20:80 in nuts/seeds, the biggest source of fat) a massive intake of pro-life phytosterols and general anti-oxidants. If you ensure you have a fair amount of fruit and vegetables daily (Carrots, Spinach, Kale, berries, citrus fruits... are good), you'd also hit the required Vitamins too (then Almonds, Sunflower Seeds or Wheat Germ for Vitamin E). Even junk food vegans tend to be healthier than omnivorous individuals. Hope that helps some. My apologies for the rant; ignorance, especially ignorance with absolutely no grounds, really, really annoys me. It's bad enough seeing people with a murderous and pain-filled diet trying to defend themselves as being healthy (when they're not, anyway), let alone trying to push their unfounded beliefs on others.
