My dad flipped out when I converted a few years ago. He and my mom were very concerned about nutrition. I told them to take me to my doctor and see what he said. They said how worried they were about my protein. Then he told them the average meat eating American has 3 times the healthy amount of protein and that vegetarians would specifically have to avoid many non-meat foods to drop below the recommended daily value. The only precaution he said to take was make sure my vitamin supplement had iron if my diet slowly changed to non-iron vegetarian foods, since this would not bring my iron to a dangerous level. My mom chilled out.

But my dad wasn't convinced. So I measured my intake and it was almost perfect, slightly above the average daily value. Even he, the dad who doesn't believe scientific health studies that conflict with what he learned 40-50 years ago about disease control, fitness, diet, and other issues; doesn't think OCD exists even though I have been diagnosed by three doctors; and (no joke) is convinced there are ALWAYS more bad drivers out when there is a full moon, had to concede that he was wrong, if not in words then in action. He stills doesn't think its normal for me to "restrict" myself, but thats his problem.

All I can say is start with your doctor, if starts some circle life argument, or spews falsified facts at you, you can do some research online if you haven't already.
