Your mum is genuinely concerned that you may not be getting the right balance of nutrients. In face, you don't need protein pills. You may or may not need vitamin pills depending on your diet and general health. Personally, I take none and am rarely ever ill. You can get your vitamins from fruit and vegetables, especially think about spinach, broccoli and marmite/vegemite (if you can get it where you live) for the B vitamins you would otherwise get from red meat.
As for protein, get used to eating a lot of tofu :), TVP and bean products such as kidney beans, baked beans, etc. I don't like beans myself but stay healthy by eating a lot of lentils, which have protein in, and this stuff called Quorn which I think you can only get in the UK. It's all veggie, though a lot of quorn products aren't vegan as they contain milk.
Hope this helps! Email me if you want any more help.
