Obviously I am nervous about the whole mad cow issue. What really troubles me is the inability to sterilize medical instruments and the blood transfusion issues. What do you recommend (personally and as an educated professional on the mad cow issue) a person do in terms of the dentist and/or doctors office to reduce the risk of exposure to prions? Also, is there anything a person can do to reduce the chance of developing CJv if they have been exposed, in terms of diet or lifestyle? Or does exposure guarantee developing CJv?
