I really think that getting sugar out of your diet takes some time of being on a truly healthy diet. I have noticed that when I eat lots and lots of vegetables and fruits and unprocessed foods, I do not crave sugar at all. Eating sugar seems to be more of a habit than a true "craving." Not having things in the house helps. If you have cookies, or desserts, or heaven forbid those awful SoyDelicious ice cream bars in the house, they WILL call to you and you WILL eat them. I always eat all of them when I buy them, which is getting less and less these days! I haven't cut sugar out completely, but I eat very, very little these days, mostly just because I don't want it. Not having stuff in the house helps tremendously, eating an overall truly healthy diet helps (I really think your taste buds begin to really come alive when you eat this way and you begin to truly appreciate the real flavor of simple foods, even lettuce has a flavor . . . ); eating more fruit, such as cut up yummy organic fuji apples, bananas, blueberries, strawberries. And remembering that everything takes time and what you are trying to beat is a habit that you have had since childhood. So be nice to yourself and realize it will take time but you will get to a place where you really don't want sweet stuff (much) anymore. Which is a good place!!
