I eat a 95% vegan diet, but know there is more I can do to improve my health. I love my desserts, but have been thinking about eliminating sugar or perhaps just white sugar from my diet. Are there benefits to just eliminating white sugar and high fructose corn syrup? I am familiar with stevia and have experimented with it in recipes to reduce the amount of sugar. I have heard people say they have eliminated sugar from their diet. Does this mean they no longer consume such everyday products as breakfast cereals, ketchup or other condiments?
If I am not concerned about any particular health issue, just optimizing my already good health, where is a good place to start? What about raw agave nectar or raw unpasterized honey or other such sweeteners? Although I am not a big eater of processed foods, they do have a minor role in my diet right now. To be true to a no sugar diet, does this mean the elimination of most processed foods?
