I have been using Xylitol and Carob in place of sugar in all my recipes that call for sugar or Chocolate. Too much xyiltol can have a laxative affect so I use it to make Black Bottoms which is a cupcake with a cream cheese inside. I use Tofutti cream cheese, Carob chips. and Carob powder. In the basic cake recipe I use Brown Rice Syrup or Barley Malt so I do not use so much Xylitol. Xylitol is an alcohol sugar that disrupts the bacteria call Strep Mutans which is the bacteria which causes "Tooth Decay" As a Dental Hygienist I recoment the use of Xylitol !
