But other than that, yes, I pray for people all the time, day in and day out, and never ask them if I can pray for them. But if I see someone in distress.... or who is telling me their troubles, I would ask them for permission to pray outloud with them then and there, because I would be bringing them into that conversation with the Lord and I. The difference is I can talk to my Lord at any and all times about anything... but when I invite a third person into the conversation... I need to ask their permission. Sort of like, if I were talking to a professional helper of some kind, say a counselor... and see someone with a need, I would ask them if they would like to share their need with the professional.
