I agree with Keith. It sounds like depression. I feel that way sometimes myself, but nothing like I used to. As far as societal definitions of happiness, I don't believe they work. I used to be constantly pushing myself, trying different things and working really hard at my job in order to move up. It did not bring me happiness. A year ago I had a powerful spiritual experience that basically told me that helping others is my path to happiness. I have been involved in Overeaters Anonymous for the past 3 years. Speaking about my experiences at meetings and talking to people really makes me feel peaceful. I have been progressing in this regard for the past year. Trying different things and researching vocations to try to figure out where my next move is. I am currently an engineer, and for the past 6 years, I've felt I was in the wrong field. I have grown tremendously and working with "things" is no longer of any interest to me. There are so many social problems in the world today and I am hoping to make a career in an area that may help to decrease these problems. Thanksgiving weekend, I am going out to Biloxi, MS to help clean up. I am curious what this experience will do for me.
