Henry David Thoreau was a very *spiritual* person, reading and studying different scriptures in his day, but shuned organized religion. On his death bed at age 45, dying of TB, a religious aunt asked him if he had made peace with God. Henry said, "I was not aware we had ever quarreled." :))
