I realize that this upsets you. I personally think it's okay. Different people use the Bible in different ways. People can interpret it the way they want and use this interpretation maybe to pressure others. If you were on the jury I would trust your reading of the Bible because I have seen that your posts are very thorough and loving. But there are many who just pick and choose the parts that suit their own leanings.
Also, there is a difference between the old and new testaments. Some may feel that an "eye for an eye" still stands while others may feel that forgiveness is more appropriate.
