Mind wandering is normal. I know people who have been meditating for 30 years and their minds still wander. The important thing, as Rocket Scientist said, is to notice that it has wandered and to gently bring it back. The wandering or not wandering is not important; what is important is the noticing and returning.

Start small. It is better to meditate for 5 minutes every day than to meditate for 20 or 30 minutes but to skip it often. Once you are comfortable with doing 5 minutes every day, then you can gradually increase to 10, 15, etc. minutes.

Don't be attached to visions or other exotic experiences. Meditation is boring. It is about being aware of what is, rather than what you want. If the visions come, be aware of them. If they don't, just be aware of what is.
