Hello, I've never posted here before, I usually just linger at the vegan recipe board. But I wanted to share an experience which happened a few years ago, and which no one else I know has ever experienced. It's probably the sort of thing which happens every day for some of you, but it was so amazing for such a sceptic like me.

I was having counselling to try to find why I didn't have hunger feelings anymore, and the counsellor was quite a spiritual lady and at every session would say that we'd have to try a guided meditation. But at every session by baby would always need feeding, so we just put it off. When we got to the last session, I said, well lets just try it anyway while I'm feeding him, not expecting to be able to feel any benefits of a meditation whilst holding a plugged in baby! Anyway, I can't remember the exact things she told me to imagine, but it was something like walking through a meadow, and going up to a building in which there was a chalice, and then I had to ask the chalice a question (I can't even remember what I asked it) and then I had to drink from it. Well I had the most amazing experience, I could no longer feel my eyes in their usual place (they were closed) but instead I could feel one large wide eye on my forhead! I knew this was my third eye as I'd heard about it. Because I was conscious of the counsellor sitting there I didn't leave my eyes closed for ages, so when I opened them the feeling went. But it was definately not imagined (like I think some of my family think), I really felt that my eyes had gone and instead I had one eye on my forhead. It's strange but even after that experience I'm still often sceptical about all these chakra thingies, so I thought I'd try a guided meditation today from a c.d, I was really excited, but of course nothing happened, probably because I was expecting it to.

I don't seem to be able to relax properly when I'm meditating on my own. I unplugged the phone, and no one else was in the house, but I'm still aware that someone might knock at the door, or the cats might knock something over, or I'll have to rush to get up for something else. It's probably because as I have 3 boys I'm not used to sitting down without having to rush to get up again. Also it didn't help the the C.D. was a bit naff and occasionally there was knocking in the background and the music was a bit shaky! So I'm thinking of buying a better guided meditation C.D. - any suggestions?

Anyway, I'd love to heard anyone's comments on my experience, and maybe some hints on how I could get it to happen again.
