Just wanted to say that from my understanding of soy it is that it contains a weak form of estrogen which binds to the receptor cells and therefore your body makes less of its own estrogen, therefore reducing, rather than increasing, the amount of estrogen circulating in the body. There are other foods that have the same effect, among them flaxseeds and broccoli, you might want to ask Bryanna Grogan about this (new veggies) because in her book "soyfoods for a Positive Menopause" she explains it.

Also wanted to say you sound a lot like me, vegetarian since 1993 (my daughter's birthyear) and vegan since 2000, my daughter has also consumed soy although I keep the analogs to a minimum, mostly use soy milk and alternate with almond milk, some miso, occasional tempeh; my daughter is 12 1/2 and still not menstruating. I'm crossing my fingers -- but there could be a genetic component because I didn't start until I was 15. I understand too that in Asia girls start later, and they eat a fair amount of soy.

I still think it's best to use analogs only occasionally, but quite seriously find I have great health and so does my daughter using tofu, soymilk and miso on a fairly regular basis.

Growth hormones in meat and dairy are what are most likely responsible for early maturation of most American girls, they increase estrogen in the body rather than decreasing it.

Good luck with whatever you find out . . . do lots of reading, and remember that Asians have always had good health and eat more soy than Americans, (now they're starting to eat like American and therefore get American diseases) although their traditional diet also includes lots of vegeables.
