I saw that on the msnbc site as well, thankfully I found the BBC report first and actually heard a bit more of the story. Sadly Msnbc, of course, conveniently left out the part about the tofu in Indonesia being treated with formaldehyde, and how that may be the real reason for the possible dementia connection.
The earlier study that was highlighted by the various anti-veg groups conveniently left out the fact that the tofu consumed by those in the study was stored in water with a high aluminum content, which of course is another direct cause of Alzheimers.
I believe, and I'm sure the meat/dairy interests are scared to death of this possibility being exposed, the main cause of Alzheimers may actually be mad cow disease, which is a wasting away of the brain, directly caused by the consumption of animal parts and fluids. They, of course, will attempt to point the finger at everything but that very real possibility. Just like when spinach or tomatoes are suspected of e coli they all disappear from every supermarket across the continent, yet when mad cow disease is exposed back in 2003, the U.S. secretary of agriculture gets on stage and says "keep eating your meat", it is one disgusting agenda.
