That should never happen, especially if you clean it right away. I have
never used any special soap or detergent, and haven't had a problem
with any of my machines. I scrub the basket with my dishwashing
brush--like a big vegetable brush-- and place it on the top rack
of my dishwasher. Have you contacted the company?

I am sure it is under warranty and should be covered.
