Such a long thread didn't want to read the entire thing, so hope there are no duplications here!
I have tried several, incluidng Smart Dogs and The Good Dog. Some i like better than others, but can never remember which one is my favorite, you probably have to try a few brands to know for sure.
I do know that although not vegan, Morningstar corn dogs appeal immensely to kids, most kids have a taste for junky foods and junky they are, but really good. Unfortunately full of additives, I eat them maybe once a year, if that, I keep them in the freezer for one little friend of my daughter's that loves them when she comes over.
My favorite "dog" is not a hot dog per se, but the Boca Italian sausages. Again, they are not completely vegan, but I will keep them for those very rare times when i go camping or something. I have been having a hard time finding them, they used to make bratwurst, smoked and Italian and I liked them all, but now can only find the Italian at a specialty store 60 or so miles from my house.
They taste, to me, anyway, (someone who used to love german sausage but hasn't had anything like that for fifteen years) -- just like german or italian sausages. The texture is good too. i don't care for the tofurkey sausages.
