I ate a soy diet for a year of my life when I was sixteen. I drank soymilk, at tofu, etc. Not in excess, but I replaced animal products (milk/meat) with soy. I developed thyroid problems and then Hashimotos disease within 1 year of this diet. My doctor and my mother told me to STOP EATING SOY. I didn't listen for a whole year, and felt worse and worse. I regret every piece of processed soy garbage I ate. Of course on the packaging of the soy poison products I was told how healthy I was eating... I do not believe I would have Hashimotos if I didn't eat soy for that period of time. I feel incredibly sad for the vegans and vegetarians following the low fat soy based diets. They will end of deficient in Vitamin A and D, and delude themselves into thinking they can absorb the minerals and vitamins in veggies without animal fat. My friend is a strict vegan and is going blind, her doctor told her its genetic... As every doctor will tell you, any disease or disorder is genetic these days.
