Thank you for your response - I too was a little concerned that I may be over-doing the daily tofu allowance, however as this is my primary source of protein I believe it can be justified.
You mention using low-fat tofu - unfortunately it is often difficult to find nutrition information printed on Japanese packaging as I gather it is not a legal requirement. Consequently, I have no idea about the typical fat/calorie/protein content of the tofu I am buying, unfortunately.
Furthermore, whilst the tofu you suggest (kinu dofu, rather than momen dofu) is perhaps lower in calories and fat, I believe it is also lower in protein also - yet the differences are not noticable enough to make one type of tofu preferrable.
It's just a shame fresh fruit is so bloody expensive over here - I really dislike having to use tinned fruit packed in syrup in order to receive extra vitamins, especially since I hear that the fruit actually soaks up the calories from the syrup - is this true?
