The Bible doesn't say it's wrong to eat meat, I agree with you there, but I can't imagine Jesus agreeing with the kind of horrendous treatment animals in modern times are put through before they actually wind up on someone's plate.
I'm a Christian too, and I believe God created us to be the *caretakers* of the earth, not the exploiters of it. I don't think there's anything wrong with killing animals for food, but except for a few eggs I get from my pet chickens, I am and will continue to be a vegan. The way the meat industry is today, I couldn't in good conscience be anything else.
