It's wonderful that you're an animal rights activist! I understand what you mean, about feeling like the whole world is against us sometimes.

I've been vegan since conception and am very glad to hear that you're interested. Just wanted to remind you, in case your research isn't through, that veganism isn't just about eliminating animal products from our diets, it involves not wearing fur, silk, leather, or wool, buying products from companies that conduct non-required animal toxicity tests (most do) and avoiding zoos, races, circuses, and other places where animals are held in captivity and forced to perform. I feel like I'm helping a lot more animals by being vegan.

And remember it's about economics, not what you put in your mouth. For example, I've talked with a woman online who claimed to be a vegan but she told me she buys meat and dairy to cook for her family, so she was still giving her money to fund animal torture.

Congratulations on your decision to help animals and your health!
