Well, what they really mean is that the land isn't easily planted, harvested and tended. This also means that it isn't ECONOMICALLY viable to do anything other than graze animals on it. Well, if my family and I were starving, you can bet that we would find a way to grow food, in places that aren't ECONOMICALLY worth tending. But I like to garden, and know the secrets of the soil, and how to make a barren land green. For animals or people, for very little $$$$.
