I think people who write books like this,"Eat Right For Your Type", "The Zone" etc., recognize that if they can hook you on some convoluted "scientific" theory, and have you invest significant amounts of time and energy learning their "secrets", the more likely it is that you will not only adhere to their teachings, but also promote them to others. When your friend realizes that she's been scammed, she'll probably become cynical towards the next book, at least for a while. I wouldn't expect her to read "The China Study" any time soon.
