In Reply to: Is John Robbins vegan? posted by Susan Schneeberger on October 18, 2006 at 8:44 am:
I believe John Robbins & family are vegans. On page 148 he writes, "In my household, we grind flaxseeds......., and sprinkle it on all kinds of dishes.....You also might want to consider taking supplementary DHA. Algae-derived DHA is presently available commercially as Omega-Zen-3 or Neuromins DHA" On the next page, 149 he talks about, "Ironing out the truth" At the bottom of the page he writes, "Contrary to meat industry insinuations, however, vegetarians are not more prone to iron deficiency than are meat-eaters". 3 pages worth. Also, if a person becomes iron deficient or protein deficient or even omega 3 deficient, then we must question how the person ate the vegan diet. Did the person eat a well rounded diet? Did they eat whole grains and whole plant foods, or processed foods and lots of sugar? If you have ever watched his video, you'd know he was a vegan. I don't know why he doesn't use that word instead of vegetarian. Maybe someone should ask him personally? I was surprised that the 3 doctors mentioned eat wild fish, and it might give some people who read the book, a reason to eat fish In Health, Lois
