I believe he used to be, but it's impossible to tell from the book whether he still
is. As a vegan myself, I think he could be a great role model for the vegan
lifestyle. He almost seems to go out of his way to avoid the word "vegan" (it's
not even in the index of the book). He also says in the book that he knows of no
society that has sustained itself solely on a plant-based diet, which makes me
wonder if he eats fish or whatever. Certainly I respect his (and everyone's) right
to choose their own diets, but I wish he would be a bit more forthcoming about
his veganism, if he still practices it.
