Yes you are right John I should have ended the conversation right then and there. There was no need to carry on in the argument as it only gave him a false sense of hope of talking his way out of it.

I did mean it (and we are broken apart now) but kept giving him chances to explain as he continued insisting that the relationship is innocent and platonic. He later asked to be forgiven for not showing the messages to me and deleting them. I told him it is too late.

I guess I just wanted other people's opinions because he kept saying that I am exaggerating, jealous and unjustly making a big deal out of nothing. I am embarrassed to admit that I started doubting my sanity (or more precisely my logical reasoning). I wanted some reasurrance that I was in the right to end this (very) long term relationship over something as seemingly simple as (hidden) text messages.

Thanks for your input John, appreciate it. :-)

Anyone else has any thoughts on this?
