For what it is worth, I was reacting particularly to this line: "I am the way I am. This is me. Like it or don't. I usually think about me and my immediate issues first, everything else second." Even allowing for this probably being an interpretation rather than an exact quote, it sounds pretty cold to me, hence my remarks.

This is one reason why I am glad that there are still several of us "old regulars" hanging out here. A variety of opinions is more helpful than a single comment.
