It sounds like this is all about expectations. You expect everyone to want a shower; you expect the mother of the groom not to have a potluck; you expect sex-segregated celebrations; you expect them to be "registered". None of these things are requirements.

There's nothing wrong with expectations - everyone has them - but in this case, since it is the couple's wedding, their wishes should rule. And it sounds like nobody has asked them what they want.

Do you normally like this couple (and are just calling them "little snots" because you are ticked)? Do you even know them? Do you consider them close friends? If the answer is no, then you really should not be throwing them a shower.
