hi, i met some lovely people with a daughter who is a celiac...i wanted to bake for them and include her too...i found out a few things that surprised me...hope this helps...be careful using bakingpowder in recipes that need to be glutenfree...find out from your pastor if they are celiacs and ask them what they use for a baking powder substitute...it is essential to read ingredients on all the things you may put into baking or cooking...many products are marked glutenfree but if they are not call the 1-800 number that is on the package to find out...your pastor probably has a list of products that they can use...SOME BAKINGPOWDER CONTAINS GLUTEN...GLUTEN IS (EVEN IN SMALL AMOUNTS) TOXIC TO CELIACS...THERE IS A GOOD BOOK CALLED "Good Food Gluten Free"...it is very interesting and can help you understand this condition...make sure your vanilla is the real thing...the fake stuff contains gluten...anything with modified starches may have been contaminated or mixed with glutenproducts...good luck and have fun learning some very cool things about the hows and whys...your pastor will love you for it...
