Good morning! I need some help with a substitution. I'm making dinner for a gluten-free friend, and while I think my dinner will work out, I want to make some great desserts that don't require any weird, expensive ingredients. I was thinking of doing a chocolate mousse with tofu and agave nectar, and then some rice krispie treats. I'm pretty sure I can find gluten free krispies, which just leaves me with one problem. In the states, I always just made this recipe with brown rice syrup instead of corn syrup, but I can't seem to find that here in London. Are there any other liquids that might work? We have something called golden syrup that I tried once, and it may have worked, but I screwed up the recipe in other ways so it's hard to tell. Any suggestions? Here's the recipe: 1 cup light corn syrup 3/4 cup sugar 1 tablespoon vegan margarine (I use Earth Balance) 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 6 cups puffed rice cereal, divided thanks!
