Simple Lo Mein

1 Tbs vegetable oil (peanut, etc)
1 large onion, peeled & chopped
1 tsp minced fresh garlic
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 cup finely-shredded cabbage
1 tsp bouillon powder (your flavor choice)
1 tsp sugar or other sweetener
2 tsps cornstarch
1 cup water
1 Tbs soy sauce (or to taste)
Freshly-cooked noodles (linguine, spaghetti, etc), drained

In a large wok or pan, heat oil medium hot.
Add onion, and stir-fry until softened.
Add garlic, celery, and cabbage, and stir-fry
until softened (crisp-tender).
In a cup, mix bouillon powder, sugar,
and cornstarch into water.
Add this to pan gradually, stirring constantly
until sauce becomes thickened.
Mix in soy sauce.
Serve immediately over hot, cooked noodles.

Add or substitute other vegetables.
Add tofu, seitan (gluten), etc.
Use different flavors of bouillon powder.
Garnish with chopped nuts, etc.
Drizzle with hot oil or hot sauce.
