French Onion Soup 1 lb onions, peeled and diced 1 Tbs oil 2 tsps natural sugar 1/4 tsp salt 1/8 tsp pepper 1 quart water 4 tsps vegetarian "beef" bouillon powder 1 garlic clove, peeled and minced 1 tsp lemon juice Grated soy Parmesan Crusty French bread Heat oil in a heavy saucepan over medium-low heat. Add onion, and saute` for 10 minutes. Add sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer 15 minutes. Add water and bouillon powder, garlic, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil. Turn heat to low, and simmer 15 minutes. Ladle soup into bowls. Sprinkle with Parmesan. Serve with crusty French bread.
