Tempeh should not be eaten raw. 20 minutes cooking is sufficient. ---- Favorite Tempeh Burger 1 package tempeh, cut in half to make two squarish pieces 2 cups water 1 Tbs vegetarian "beef" bouillon powder 1 tsp sweetener (or equivalent) Dash of pepper Dash of liquid smoke (optional) Mix all except tempeh in a frying pan. Add tempeh and bring to boil. Cover, and turn down to medium simmer. Simmer for 20 minutes, turning tempeh once or twice. Drain tempeh. Save liquid for soup. Brown tempeh on both sides in a little oil or pan spray. Serve on buns with all the fixin's! Makes 2 burgers.
