Tempeh should be cooked before eating it. A 20-minute simmer in broth will do. Then, you can slice or dice it and use it in salads, sandwiches, and other dishes. --- Add cooked tempeh to gravy, and serve over potatoes, biscuits, noodles, etc. --- NOTE: If you are adding tempeh to soups, stews, or other dishes that will be cooked for at least 20 minutes, no need to pre-cook the tempeh. --- Tempeh Burgers Cut block of tempeh in two. Simmer in vegetarian "beef" broth for 15 minutes, turning several times. Drain. Fry one or both pieces in a little oil or pan spray until browned on both sides. Serve on buns, with the works!
