either spray or sprinkle.

You can mix cold-pressed, organic corn oil
with a few drops of imitation butter flavor,
put that into a (very clean) spray bottle,
and spray that sparingly on popcorn.
(Shake well before each use. Keep in fridge.)

Or, spray popcorn with vegetable oil spray,
and then sprinkle with nutritional yeast.
Not quite "buttery", but very tasty.
